Other Types of Time Off

Bereavement Leave

When a death (including miscarriage) occurs in an employee's immediate family, all full-time employees may take up to 2 weeks off with pay to grieve, be with family, attend the funeral, etc.

When a death occurs in an employee's extended family or non-family members, all full-time employees may take up to 3 days off with pay to grieve, attend the funeral or make funeral arrangements.

You can request bereavement leave through Workday.

Please refer to the policy for more details.

Jury Duty

Employees who are required to take time off to serve on a jury or grand jury will be granted up to 2 weeks of paid Jury Duty leave in a year. Employees appearing on their own behalf (i.e. as a plaintiff, defendant, or for non-subpoenaed court appearances), instead of as part of jury duty, are not covered by this policy.

You can request jury duty leave through Workday.

Please refer to the policy for more details.

Sabbatical Program

Samsara believes that having time off for personal or professional development contributes to higher levels of future performance and retention - so we offer the opportunity for eligible employees to apply for a paid sabbatical.

A sabbatical is 6 continuous weeks off during which you continue to receive your regular pay.

Full time employees in good standing are eligible to apply for a sabbatical after their 5 year work anniversary at Samsara (and every subsequent 5 years of service thereafter). To be considered in good standing, you must have received evaluations of solid or better in your last two performance reviews and have not been placed on a PIP or received a written warning within the last six months.

Notify your manager at least six months in advance of your preferred sabbatical timing so your responsibilities can be reallocated or reprioritized. When your manager has approved your preferred timing, you can request your sabbatical through Workday.

Please refer to the policy for more details.
