Basic life and AD&D

  • Coverage equal to 1x your annual salary (includes base + bonus/commissions), within a minimum coverage amount of $75,000 and a maximum of $250,000.

  • Provided automatically by Samsara, at no cost to you.

  • You pay taxes on the cost of coverage over $50,000 (called imputed income).

Voluntary life

  • You can purchase additional amounts of individual term life insurance. If you elect coverage for yourself, you can also purchase coverage for your spouse/domestic partner and/or your child(ren).

  • When you first join Samsara and are initially offered benefits, you can elect up to the guaranteed amount ($300,000 for you and $25,000 for spouse) no questions asked. If you want the extra life insurance later, increase your existing coverage, or go over the guaranteed amount, you'll have to answer some simple questions about your health before being approved for coverage.

For yourself

  • Purchase coverage in $10,000 increments, up to five times your annual earnings or $500,000, whichever is less. If you elect coverage above $300,000, you’ll need to complete an evidence of insurability (EOI) application—a brief health questionnaire—through Guardian. You can complete the EOI form here. Samsara’s Group Number is 00512133. Guardian will notify Samsara when your coverage is approved and we will update your elections.

For your spouse or domestic partner

  • Purchase coverage in $5,000 increments, up to 50% of your individual coverage or $250,000, whichever is less. If you elect coverage above $25,000, your spouse or domestic partner will need to complete an EOI application.

For your children

  • Purchase coverage of $10,000. Children are eligible up to their 26th birthday.
